Web and Communications Assistant

Dean Group is recruiting a Web and Communications Assistant for a reputable client in Waterloo. This position can be part time or full time depending on the ideal candidates preference and hourly wage will be between $25-$30/hr depending on experience. 

Job Requirements:

  • Acts as the Waterloo Content Management System site manager under the direction of Administrative Officer, collaborating with the WI team members and in consultation with Director, Waterloo International
  • Manages and maintains the WI website, including site organization, writing content and interface development, and accessibility options for special needs users.
  • Remains up to date with respect to web technologies and software through on-campus training, and maintains knowledge of currents trends within the global web design community.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of university website accessibility and usability issues.
  • Monitors web content to ensure that it is accurate and engaging for all audiences and that it aligns with digital-content best practices, institutional standards, and web accessibility legislative requirements; proofreads to ensure the accuracy of the material.
  • Ensures that news events, profiles, and other content are up to date, uploading photographs and descriptions of any international delegation visits and other events in a timely manner.
  • Monitors on- and off-campus websites and other news media to find and upload events, stories, information, and profiles appropriate for WI websites.  Conducts research on other university websites to provide input on continuous improvements.
  • Uploads, monitors, and manages any documents to be published on the WI SharePoint site.
  • Works collaborative with the Events and Administrative Coordinator to ensure the WI digital display content is updated on a regular basis
