Job Description

Plant Accountant:

Essential Functions:

  1. Financial Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and forecasts
  • Prepare a wide variety of management reports
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information in OneStream consolidation software
  • Prepare inter-co transfer pricing analysis for review by the Boler tax department
  • Prepare monthly consolidated statements for Company


  1. General Accounting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual operating plan
  • Provide information for tax return preparation to the auditors
  • Prepare for and participate in quarterly balance sheet reviews with Truck management
  • Assist the Controller with the Annual Report and Tax Packages for The Boler Company
  • Statistics Canada reporting
  • Preparation of a variety of journal entries
  • Actively participate on assigned cost reduction team and related report outs


  1. Costing
  • Prepare request for quote costing estimates and cost simulations
  • Develop departmental budget allocations used in the development of standard costs
  • Update and ensure the accuracy of standard costs in the QAD system
  • Recalculate current work center rates quarterly
  • Prepare and perform annual cost rolls and the revaluation of inventory in QAD
  • Determine standard cost of sales for the annual operating plan
  • Participate in Engineering Change Request meetings, take action as appropriate.
  1. Inventory and Variance Accounting
  • Track and prepare entries for monthly scrap reporting
  • Investigate all unusual inventory adjustments for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Prepare month end inventory reporting
  • Audit and report to management on periodic cycle counts for inventory


  1. Capital, Fixed Asset sub-Ledger and Depreciation
  • Assist with the preparation and control of capital requests
  • Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger, prepaid tooling records and offsite tooling records
  • Prepare working papers to reflect monthly depreciation expense
  • Prepare capital spending and depreciation reports and forecasts
  • Support management in the preparation of Post Completion Audits for major capital projects
  • Perform on-going fixed asset inventory audits and report to management on findings

Job Requirements

Education and Training

  • Post Secondary degree in Business/Finance, pursuing/having CPA Designation
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • High standard of integrity

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in finance in a related manufacturing business
  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting and costing
  • Advanced Excel skills, Intermediate Power Point skills
  • Knowledge of FAS fixed asset software would be an asset
  • Experience with QAD, or similar software would be an asset
